This cabin is perfect for those looking for a unique getaway - we enjoyed everything about our stay there. The cabin is cozy and comfortable, the outdoor fire pit area is just lovely, and the views can't be beat. Very convenient to Charlottesville and surrounding areas, vineyards, etc. We would return in a heartbeat.
A couple of notes: we are both short and the cabin felt made for us; if you're over 6ft tall you will probably not be as comfortable as ceilings and doors are low. I was absolutely comfortable using the soaking tub but if you are a shower person, you might miss having that amenity.
Wonderful view, had a blast!
There were definitely positives as well as drawbacks. I wouldn't choose to stay here again unless it was a good deal to save money, which isn't the case. Hotels can be found at a better price. Cleanliness is a huge issue. There was dust and dozens of dead bugs on windowsills, near the bed, and other surfaces. I felt the need to be careful where I touch during my stay lest I accidentally touch something leaving my hand covered in dirt and bugs. The walls had significant damage and were caving. There were worn undergarments left behind by previous guests under the bed. Toilet needed to be cleaned inside the bowl, view of it from the tub was not great. They really just need a good housekeeper. The tub is also a LOT smaller than it looks in pics. My husband is 6'2 and he didn't fit. We ended up showering at a local gym. Some positives were the view and the pool. Loved that, it was amazing. Wildlife was beautiful to see. The stay was alright, a bit stressful at times. It felt more like summer camping than I thought it was going to be.
Hi Kiersten, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following:
- We strive to provide our guests with a great guest experience, so we were both surprised and disappointed to hear your feedback and want to take a moment to address your concerns.
- First, we're glad you enjoyed the view, and the beautiful wildlife.
- Our cabin is a rustic, 201-year-old building with historical significance. While we strive to maintain its charm and character, we acknowledge that it may not offer the same experience as a modern hotel. We use local, professional photographers to ensure the listing photos accurately reflect the property.
- Cleanliness is very important to us, and we apologize for the dust, bugs, and other cleanliness issues you mentioned. We will address this with our housekeeping team to ensure it doesn’t happen again. It is important to note that mountain retreats such as ours, naturally have bugs, as well as wildlife.
- The tub size and other amenities are described in our listing, but we understand it may not have met your expectations. It is important to note that we were very disappointed after discovering that a member of your group broke the claw foot tub built in 1914.
- Regarding the condition of the walls and the need to use an external facility for showers, we believe these points might reflect a preference for a different type of accommodation. Our property is designed to provide a unique, rustic experience, which may differ significantly from modern hotel stays.
- We’ve been hosting guests since 2008 and have received numerous positive reviews, which reflect our commitment to providing a unique and enjoyable stay. Our cabin is a 5-star cabin, listed on Evolve, and was a 4.93 on Airbnb after 10 years and thousands of stays, indicative of our guest's enjoyment and appreciation of its rustic charm and location.
We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
This place is peaceful and Rustic. My wife ans I truly loved it. The host was great!
Cute rustic cabin that allows for a simplistic and quiet getaway. Nice place to connect with as few distractions as possible from the outside world.
The firepit overlooking the mountains at sunset was a bonus!
