Our first stay at Forest Drive was in June from the 14th-18th. The smell from the septic tank was horrible. Truly vulgar. My husband and I had headaches and it was hard to eat meals with the foul aroma. We tried to be off property as much as possible. However, any time we did return to the cabin we had to manage breathing through our mouths vs our nose. This was the FIRST STAY!
I sent an email to Mary (on-site contact for the property). I informed her of the terrible smell that we endured from June 14-18. She advised that she was sending a plumber out to check it as we also booked a family vacation over the 4th of July and wanted the smell to be taken care of before we returned. She told us that the plumber found nothing wrong at the property. I was hoping they fixed it and just didn’t want to admit that something was terribly wrong. I also didn’t want to cancel my upcoming reservation in July because by the time we found out about the septic smell issues, the cabins we could have rented in lieu of Forest Drive were already booked and the cabins that were available were so much more expensive.
Our second stay over the 4th of July, the vulgar smell was still present. Trash, cigarette butts and a full dishwasher greeted us. Plumbers showed on our departure date and had to the code to enter the cabin unannounced. They said we were supposed to be gone. Evolve - the property manager was so difficult. We did get a refund for our second stay, not 1st stay.

Hi Bettina, we sincerely apologize for the unpleasant experiences you encountered during both of your stays. We take situations like this very seriously, and after following up with the homeowner, they’d like to share the following:
-From Evolve: The homeowner took immediate action when informed about the odor after your first stay and had professionals inspect the septic system. Unfortunately, they were initially assured that there were no issues. While other guests didn't report similar concerns after your first stay, the homeowner continued to monitor the situation closely. Before your second stay, the homeowner became aware that the issue might still be present and reached out to Evolve to cancel your reservation and relocate you. Regrettably, due to an error on our part, this did not happen, and the home was not properly prepared for your arrival. The plumbers arriving unannounced was a direct result of our miscommunication, as they believed the property was vacant. We take full responsibility for this oversight.
-The septic issue has since been thoroughly addressed, and the home is now ready for future guests.
We sincerely apologize for your experience. Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate the chance to address these concerns. Thank you for taking the time to share your review.
Great location! Nice use of space. Comfy bed! Decorated nicely. Needed washcloths. Going back up in a few weeks to stay at the same cabin.

We loved this property and were so comfortable during our stay. The beds were big and comfy, the house was very clean, and it felt spacious for our family of five. My kids especially liked the big bathtub and exploring around the outside of the house. The neighborhood was quiet and felt very private with all the trees around. The food in the village was really good and there was plenty to do nearby. We had a great little family trip!
