  We stayed here for the rustic feeling of staying in a cabin. Which for the most part was true. This place could truly be nicer with a few inexpensive changes.

  1) The door wasn't locked when we arrived, which created a sense of insecurity entering. I did call because we couldn't find the lock box. It was being changed out, so keys were on the table upon entering.

  2) Dishes were in the dishwasher, dirty from previous renter. It made me aware that most of the pots and pans for use were dirty also. We did dishes before we could even use them. Honestly, just throw them away and buy a new set at the store.

  3) The grill ignitor didn't work. Only reason we finally got it to work was because my husband does electrical work on the side and figured it out.

  4) Futon is filthy, full of crumbs and extremely uncomfortable. Needs a new mattress.

  5) The kids took off the quilts because honestly who washes quilts every day, so we didn't use them, instead used the blankets we hoped were clean from the bedroom.

  6) We were expected to wash the towels and put them in the dryer before leaving. Which is really hard to do when everyone takes morning showers and we were trying to leave at 8am. Bath towels were in the laundry room instead of the bathroom, which wasn't a huge deal, but did smell a bit musty.

  7) Honestly we thought we had the wrong cabin at first. The front was not well kept like the others down the road. I'd suggest tossing the couch out that sits on the front porch and getting rid of the broken looking chairs and dirty shoe mat. The grill was off to the side in the grass under a tree.

  8) Bathroom has no vent so we had to open a window when showering.

  Overall, it is a great location that is close to a gas station, Deadwood, a place to eat across the road and a mile to the south. It stayed cold inside, but AC units were loud and heat AND AC were both on upstairs. Fridge and stove were handy. The cleanliness was lacking, which gave me the ick on everything I used or did. And we are not a picky family when it comes to being dirty.

  Very nice cabin. Clean and comfortable place to stay. Close to Deadwood and other sites. Woke up to snow showers on Saturday morning, so beautiful. Quiet and peaceful. Everything you need at the cabin. Would definitely stay again.

• Peaceful getaway

  Was exactly what we needed for us and our dogs! Centrally located to go to deadwood or down to pactola lake area. Comfort home vides and all the necessities we needed. Would recommend to anyone and have!

• Great cabin

  Great spot to stay, close to town. Plenty to do within in a few minutes drive. Close to atv trails and gas station. Will definitely book again!
