Due to hurricane/ tropical storm Debby, we did not feel safe traveling to Myrtle Beach at the time. The day before we were supposed to arrive, I contacted the host management, Evolve, and spoke with Bryan. He stated that due to the hurricane/tropical storm, they would refund my money. I then proceeded to book a different location to holiday with my children. The next day, I received an email from Evolve stating they would not be issuing a refund. I had saved enough money for almost a year for this holiday, and now I will not be able to pay my mortgage. I will NEVER book through Evolve again and may never use VRBO either. I feel like I should have just taken my chances, gone to Myrtle Beach during the storm, had a miserable time, and caused more grief for the local authorities to have to worry about more tourists there. I don't imagine the authorities wanted more tourists there at the time. We felt like we were doing what was best for our family and the state of South Carolina by not adding to their problem. (And we've already survived the loss of our husband and father to death, I didn't want to put my children in danger.

-Your safety, along with the well-being of all our guests, is always a top priority for us. Unfortunately, the situation arose from a miscommunication in which Evolve, with the best intentions, initially offered a refund without first consulting the homeowner. After carefully reviewing the circumstances and the existing cancellation policy, we regrettably could not approve the refund. We understand how disappointing this must have been, especially given the significance of this vacation to you and your family.
-Evolve has since reviewed the call between you and their representative and acknowledges that incorrect information was provided. They take full responsibility for this error and have taken measures to ensure that similar miscommunications do not happen in the future. We sincerely apologize for any added distress this caused you during an already difficult time.
Please know that we empathize with your situation and deeply regret any financial and emotional burden this may have placed on you. We truly appreciate your understanding and wish you and your family all the best moving forward.
