The view was great, and bed comfy, amenities were well stocked, and Roku access for TV.
but several let downs. The hot water in shower only gave Luke warm water. We boiled water and sponge bathed from sink. December visit, it was cold. Body wash was empty. The place is old, 1947, which could have its charm, but feels patchy in add on construction, old towels, pulled up in bathroom in no order, host could afford to update couches, chairs for more comfort. The fridge had an unpleasant odor.
Finding the cabin was a little challenging. It was pitch black and difficult to find address from GPS. The house was not lit up, but a side motion light came on once you were on the path at side of house, but it did not light up the front door. The front door definitely needs a motion light to see the lockbox and get in.
The water is smelly, not drinkable. Well water, strong sulfur odor. Bring a gallon jug to make coffee, brush teeth, drink.
My hubby and I love old cabins and seek them out for a rustic charm. However, This home definitely needs an update being a vrbo for guest comforts and lakefront property. This house is surrounded by 1/2 million to million $ homes. It felt like we were staying in an elderly persons outdated personal home, managed & cleaned by same.
Hi Scott and Libby, we appreciate your mentioning the great views and comfortable beds that everything was well-stocked and there was access to the TV.
- We ask all our guests to reach out if there is anything that needs our attention we can't fix things if we don't reach out. Our point of contact did not receive any messages or calls from you while at the property.
- First contact we provide the guest with contact information as well as explicit directions for finding the cabin.
- We have floodlights which are all motion activated, there is no light directly above the access door but we are addressing this issue immediately.
- The cabin was built in 1947 but nothing has been changed or added on. It is the same as when it was built.
- We feel the furniture is adequate for a lake cabin.
- We inspected the hot water issue and found that there was plenty of hot water available.
- The cleaner was contacted about the refrigerator and there was no odor found it was clean and ready for our guests. The cleaner is 30 years old and does this for a living, and we feel they do a wonderful job and we trust them implicitly.
- We do have an array of mixed towels but they are all clean and in good condition and do not feel the need for a matching set.
- There is a problem with the well water. It is sporadic and without predictability. It is not unhealthy but it smells of sulfur on occasion. We are addressing this issue with a certified water company and have two options; one being rural water and the other a certified filtering system to eliminate the sulfur smell and have good clean water.
We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
We've now stayed at this property twice, and it continues to exceed our expectations. This time, we experienced a chilly spell during our stay, and the cozy fireplace was the perfect solution. The convenient wood supply and kindling made it easy to enjoy a warm and inviting atmosphere. We're already looking forward to our third visit!
We had a great time at this fun little cabin. The only thing I felt was a little confusing was that the instructions on the fridge didn't really match the instructions in the app. Not a big deal but it's not comfortable to second guess what needs to be done at the end of the trip.

Cottage has a lot of character but is updated. Bathroom redone since our last stay. Air conditioning was awesome for the hottest part of day. Looking forward to future trip #3 here.
I am still in the process of recovering from cancer, and I so appreciated the time spent sitting on the back porch overlooking Duck Creek. The view alone is amazing and the nice swim dock is just an added bonus!
