Recently Renovated Raleigh Retreat w/ Patio!

  The house was okay, but definitely not "recently renovated" like the listing says. It looked more like a quick landlord makeover than a real update. The main surfaces, beds, counters, etc., were clean, but once you looked a little closer (walls, shelves, corners), it needed a deeper clean.The owner was very responsive, which I appreciate, but honestly, a bit too much. She texted a lot, even right when we arrived, which is how I found out she had been watching through the door camera. She messaged me about my dogs being there, even though I had included them in the reservation. She was nice about it, but the camera thing felt a little weird.The backyard was not great. The grass was mostly dead, lots of weeds, and the deck and fence were falling apart. No way I could leave the dogs out there safely.Even after I checked out, the owner kept texting me. Eventually, I had to block her. She seemed nice, but the constant messages were just too much.Overall, it was fine for a short stay, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

  From the owner: Hi Ethne, we were sorry to hear that we did not meet your standards and were unable to deliver our usual 5-star experience.  We continue to host MANY repeat guests and have over 70 wonderful 5-star reviews from very satisfied guests!
  - We text or call our guests prior to check-in with information that they will need during their stay and to address questions. We messaged you at check-in to apologize for not leaving out the dog bowls and where to find them, as our site didn’t indicate pets (as advertised, outside security cameras in place for guest security).  Our next courtesy text after the first night’s stay was to confirm you were finding everything you needed, and the last text was on checkout day to thank you for your business and to inform you to feel free to check out later than 11 if needed.  We apologize if these few texts seemed excessive to you, but almost all of our guests have expressed sincere appreciation for our availability and hands-on approach.
  - The landscaper needed to reschedule their work due to storms in the area. The two fence gates are being replaced. 
  - As for updates…. We would simply defer to our online pictures as nothing has changed.
  
  We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

  This is an excellent home in the North Hills area. Plenty of room for our family of four with comfortable beds. Great backyard that’s private and fenced-in for our dog to play. The location is perfect - close to many shops and restaurants. And the host is the best! Ruby makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. We will definitely be back!
