From the minute we arrived to the moment we regretfully had to leave, we felt that we discovered our own personal oasis in the lovely mountain town of Hayesville.
The host was beyond gracious and there was nothing left to chance. A well stocked kitchen, premium bedding, and the layout of the house was beyond anything we could have asked for. Much fun was had cheering on the TN Vols while cooking a lovely dinner as the sun went down over the mountains. Fall weekends don’t get much better.
Start your day on the deck watching the sun rise over the river, walk quietly around and you will see a family of deer peacefully enjoying the beautiful property. Take a hike down a well groomed bath by the river and end the day with a Wine & Charcuterie Board around the fire pit. Also, plenty of cute shops and restaurants in downtown Hayesville along with some great day trip options.
I highly recommend this for large families, adult friend getaways as you will be thrilled with your accommodations.
Truly, one of our best rental experiences and by far one of the most accommodating and professional hosts/owners out there!
Looking forward to booking for the 2025 Vols/BAMA rematch!
From the owner: "Thank you, Barbara! We are thrilled you had such a wonderful experience!"

From the owner: "You are so welcome, Terra and family! We are so glad you enjoyed your time at “Sweetwater Bluff!” Please come back!"
This house was wonderful for our three generation family vacation. The kids stayed downstairs with lots to do and great soundproofing. Right on the river...spent many hours there relaxing while the kids played in the water and climbed the river rocks. Kitchen was super well appointed with high end appliances, cooking utensils, cookware and serving ware. Not near any paved road with lots of acreage, so we could let the kids play outside without worrying. Highly recommend!

This home proved to be a great location for the annual Fourth of July reunion for our large and growing family of eight adult and one teenaged children and a few significant others. We made good use of the large great room for meals and relaxing, and the screened-in porches, ample deck space, hot tub, fire circles, and basements offered refuges for those who needed a little alone time. The river was beautiful and a joy to wade or fish in, or to just idle next to while enjoying the trees, water, rocks, and nearby mountains. That said, the stairs to the river bank are long and steep—we counted nearly 120 steps. The cardiovascular workout was well worth it for my crew, who are all in pretty robust shape, but it may give others pause. The house was in striking distance of some scenic Appalachian trails; we sampled trails in the Nantahala National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Mostly we hung around this lovely property and reacquainted ourselves with each other. There were some minor issues with the hot tub and water pressure (the latter due to heavy well usage in the neighborhood over a holiday), but Lanie was an attentive, responsive, and personable host. We enjoyed our time and would stay here again if we ever take a family vacation in the area again.
From the owner: "Dan, I’m so glad you and your family had such a wonderful time connecting at our home on the Hiawassee River and enjoying all there is to offer in the area. You were wonderful guests and we really appreciated your patience/ understanding with the hot tub/drought/well issue. It was an unfortunate timing issue, but you were very gracious as we worked towards resolving it."
Absolutely an amazing place to relax and unwind in the mountains. The river running in the back of the house was super nice. The hot tub was a great size for our family and there were two fire pits, which was really cool because one was near the house and the other closer to the river. There were several place in the house for all members of the family to hang out. It was every spacious and the house never felt small. We used the kitchen to cook and found everything you need and more for an Airbnb.
We will definite come back again.
