We loved the cabin and surrounding areas. And the donkey Thor coming to say hi every now and then. We would definitely come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cabin was sparkling clean and very cute. A true craftsman did a phenomenal job marrying vintage cabin pieces into a more modern upgrade! We took advantage of the cozy living room and had a fire every morning and evening, plus the outdoor fire pit too! We loved the resident donkey who kept us highly entertained with his whinnying and his need for ear scratches (we only wish we knew his name - we christened him Don-KAY with a brogue accent like the donkey in Shrek!).
I would caution about paying attention when you ascend and descend the stairs to the loft as there is a definite possibility of whacking your head as we learned several times! And a suggestion would be to find a cute vintage room screen that can be folded in front of the soaking tub in the loft to give at least the illusion of a little privacy.
Overall a very enjoyable stay and we would do it again. We peeked in the windows of the other cabins to get a feel for them and the other two are definitely more set up for a romantic couples weekend just FYI.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here! It was quiet, and I loved seeing the animals! Plus it was decently close to downtown Asheville! I will say if you are someone who cannot be unplugged during your stay, this property is not for you because the Wi-Fi did not work during my stay. I wasn’t there for that so not a problem for me personally.

Enjoyed a brief but lovely stay at Papa Bear cabin with my husband and two boys. As we pulled up to park we were greeted by a donkey and a goat peering over the fence at us! The cabin is spotless, rustic in feel but not in function, incredible views and peaceful silence. Wi-Fi wasn't steady enough to use but it was PERFECT as we all just pulled out some DVDs they supplied at the cabin and enjoyed some off-line time as a family. Highly recommend this for a lovely getaway!

We enjoyed our time at Papa bear cabin! This was our second time there and we will definitely be returning annually! So relaxing waking up to the fresh mountain air and drinking coffee on the front porch. It was nice to unplug and relax. Great location, right next to max patch which is a must do!
