We were delighted with our time spent in this very comfortable home. We were looking for a get-away that offered new adventures and yet was not located in a big city or packed amusement area. The house was pleasingly decorated and provided for all our needs during our stay. This site was the perfect location. We were there for a week and each day headed in a different direction to see nature at her best and to learn more about this area of North Carolina and its history. One rule we always follow is to never eat at a chain restaurant. We had no difficulty in locating great local food in all our travels. From our location we traveled to Bryson City and followed the steam train on a daily trip. We discovered many quaint shops and restaurants. A favorite stop was The Friends of the Library bookstore. We spent time in the local library talking with the librarians about their town and what it has to offer. We traveled one day to Gatlinburg, TN and admired the vistas and sites along the way. Another day's travel took us to ride the Tail of the Dragon, an eleven-mile 2 lane road with 318 curves. It was so interesting to see the variety of vehicles taking the same trip. Another day took us to Fontana Village and Fontana Dam. Close by we visited Cherokee, NC. We spent a lot of time locating and taking pictures of the fiberglass bears that have been painted by various artists to represent this area and its people. We found over 20 bears. A few seemed to have already gone into hibernation. We discovered that Bryson City and a trout statues motif. We located all six of their trout statues. We also were thrilled to be able to watch and photograph members of three elk herds near the Cherokee reservation. Oh, these are magnificent animals, and they were in fields next to the road. We also visited The North Carolina State Arboretum in Asheville. This area of North Carolina is filled with many ways to explore nature including but not limited to hiking, rafting, waterfall viewing, fly fishing, and boating. One day as we were driving into Bryson City, two fishermen were returning to their truck parked in a lot alongside the road. They were proudly carrying a string of trout that looked award winning. Can't wait for the time to return to this are because we still have items on our "to see and do" list.

We rented the cabins for a family weekend. What a cute location and it had the right amenities . The beds were super comfortable. These houses are so close to town, and very close to the river. We’ll definitely be back!
