  • Clean, Quiet, and Roomy

    This place was a great choice for our visit to DC college campuses, the zoo, and the Cherry Blossom Festival. It’s conveniently located to park and ride the Metro on the red line. Parking was a breeze, the kitchen is pretty well set up for feeding a family (it doesn’t have a blender or kitchen towels at this time and the dishwasher racks are on their last leg), and the furniture is all comfortable. The WiFi signal was not consistently good throughout the house (the living room TV could not keep a signal at all), so I was glad I packed our hotspot for our online students. Our phones and tablets were fine, but laptops and the TVs struggled. Water pressure was good and towels and linens were soft, but the hot water is *extremely* hot so be careful with that. Overall the place has a few quirks that could stand to be leveled out, but it’s generally a comfortable, quiet, convenient stay that I would book again.

  • No hot water, cut off heat

    The property had no hot water upon our arrival. We contacted the property manager in the next morning and heard back at 6 pm that night. They called a plumber, who determined there was an issue with the water heater. The manager told us that they couldn't fix the problem during our stay, which I understood, and we discussed a rebate of part of the price. However, that night we woke up very cold and discovered they had turned off the gas to the house, and it was below 60 degrees by morning. None of us slept well, defeating the purpose of having a house for this trip.

    We complained to the management company that we would have moved out if we had known there was no heat (or spare blankets), and got a very unhelpful response. They ended up refunding less than 10% of the total cost, even though we had to take showers at a nearby rec center all weekend and did not get a good sleep the last night. It was a very disappointing customer experience. This is even more so an issue given that it was obvious the problems were the house were due to poor maintenance. Several plumbing and electrical fixtures were damaged or broken, the dishwasher was full of unwashed, crusty dishes, and the management company was not equipped to respond to issues.

    I would have been more understanding if the management company had done more to compensate us for these issues, showing they wanted to rectify it.
