  We were scheduled to stay for two nights at this VRBO. The pictures online made it look very clean, well maintained and inviting. However, upon arrival by a boat to this property, the dock that we had to tie up to was sinking and infested with ants. The yard was overall maintained well but the landscaping was growed up with trees and grass. There were broken windows to the house. The deck was filthy and covered with children's toys. The roof had moss on it and trees growing in the gutters. The check in process was super easy and easy to get into the house. You could tell that the owners had made upgrades to the appliances and the kitchen. However, the inside of the home was overall outdated. There was only one TV in the entire home which was in the living room and very small. The inside of the home was decorated with what appeared to be pretty old furniture and the carpet was old and stained. If someone was interested in historic dickel items they would have had a really good time looking at all the decorations within the home. But the mix match of ocean decorations and old antique items was weird. The home had a smell of dampness and mustiness. We only stayed one night after waking up feeling damp like we had slept outside in a tent. The home has super potential to be a good rental if some substantial upgrades were made to it. Renters should be aware that there is no availability to have any items delivered to this home due to its proximity to restaurants.

  Hi Jennifer, the homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences and would like to clarify the following:
  - We’re sorry the dock felt unsafe when you arrived by boat. It was storm-damaged earlier this year; repairs are on the contractor’s list, and the structure remains stable in the meantime.
  - We’ve refreshed landscaping on one side of the yard and will finish the rest next spring. The deck collects leaves quickly, so we leave a blower on hand for easy clean-up.
  - We kept our mother’s vintage décor to give the home character, yet we’re noting requests for additional TVs, updated carpets, and lighter styling to guide our next round of upgrades.
  - Recent heat and humidity pushed the A/C hard, so we’re having it serviced and adding dehumidifiers. The listing now highlights limited delivery options given our remote lakeside location.

  The property was very cozy and as described. The dock and all th amenities were fantastic. The fishing was great from the dock and access to the boat ramp was a nice touch. Only one small issue with the coffee maker not working but very small inconvenience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful get away.
