  The house and surrounding grounds were very nice.

  The hot tub wasn’t working upon our arrival.

  The hot tub was a great amenity and the primary reason why we chose this rental home for our vacation stay.

  So it was disappointing to find out that the hot tub was not working upon our arrival.

  I called the guest contact person Melissa but she didn’t call me back so I called the back up guest contact person Joe. I sent both guest contact people pictures of the controls on the hot tub. After Joe tried to walk us through turning on the hot tub jets over the phone but his attempt was unsuccessful.

  So Joe came over to the house and tried to get the hot tub to work. However he reset the jets, looked up how to turn the jets via YouTube and then he pushed all the buttons on the hot tub but he was unable to get the jets to turn on.

  Melissa returned my call about 9:30 PM and I tried to explain to her that the hot tub jets were not working. Melissa kept saying just reset the jets and the jets will come on. I kept trying to tell Melissa that Joe came over and he already tried to reset the jets and it didn’t work.

  So Melissa said she didn’t want to discuss it anymore because I kept asking her to call Joe and telling her that resetting the hot tub button didn’t work.

  Melissa also said that they ordered parts for the hot tub but it’s Hawaii so it takes a while to receive parts. I replied oh so you knew the hot tub is not working. And she said no and I said then why did you order parts. And Melissa hung up the phone.

  Which was very unprofessional, rude and unnecessary. I didn’t do anything to deserve Melissa hanging up on me.

  I’ve been a Airbnb Super Host for over a year. I definitely didn’t get my Super Host status by being rude, unprofessional and disrespectful to my guests.

  The back up guest Joe was very kind, professional and he went out of his way to try to help us.

  I showed my sister pictures of the house and she loved the house and its amenities just like I did.

  My sister was going to rent this house during the end of July for her birthday vacation. She decided to find another home to rent after I told her about my unpleasant experience with Melissa. Which was on the first day of our stay at the house.

  So Melissa caused the property owner to lose a rental customer. And she is the cause of the property owner getting a bad review from me.

  I’d never do anything to lose a customer, customer referrals or get bad reviews on my home unlike Melissa.

• Tropical getaway

  Mapquest got us to the house easily. The hosts helped us with everything we needed. We chose the house for the hot tub because my husband has chronic back pain and hot tub jets help him relax. The hot tub did not have jets that massaged. They just moved the water slightly and only lasted for 5 minutes. That made our stay very difficult for my husband. Also the layout of bathrooms to bedrooms was unusual. All in all we had a good time but not as great as we’d hoped for.

We apologize for any inconvenience—while all appliances are brand new, they can be a bit unfamiliar at first. The hot tub includes a switch to activate the jets, and our property manager has confirmed they are functioning properly. • Excellent unique hideaway

  This was just the right amount of funky in this spot. It's a very unusual house in a quiet (except for the local wildlife) area. Layout is weird but workable. The kitchen had all the basics for cooking, tons of linens in the bath, "smart" TV (bring your logins). It's 2 miles from the main road, so stop by the grocery store first. And bonus friendly kitty from next door!

• Beautiful and private

  Fun place to stay. Lush plants surround the property. So nice to sit on the deck in the evening listening to the birds and frogs. Feels very private.
