As a birthday gift to my niece for her 22nd birthday, we took her to her first vineyard and her first wine tasting. The location was quiet, beautiful, and tucked away. It rained our whole trip but we didn’t mind, it was very relaxing to hear the rain while we played games, watched movies, and shared obligatory birthday cake. It was a quaint mini vacation and she said it was “Just what she needed.” The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils and pots and pans I needed to make all her favorite meals for the weekend, the beds were firm but comfortable, and the whole lot exuded cozy warmth and cabin charm. We all loved the coffee and tea options and there were many moments where the kitchen table became the hub of conversation and time spent. The host was very pleasant to communicate with, access to property was a breeze, and checkout was smooth. All in all, as we locked up, my husband, our nieces, and birthday girl’s partner all agreed we would love to come back and experience this relaxing getaway together again.

I wanted to take my mother on a three day weekend trip to the mountains. Dahlonega and Helen are my two favorite vacation spots in North Georgia. This cottage was all we needed. It is an older home on a quiet back road just outside of Dahlonega. Shopping and restaurants are within a five to ten minute drive. Cavender Creek winery is literally across the road. Aside from the festivities at the winery, we never heard a sound during our stay.
This home is in need of a few updates, and both porches need a good cleaning (spiderwebs, dead bugs, and wet/dirty cushions). The hardwood floors are a bit uneven and creak, but I love old homes and the quirkiness gives them charm. It offered all the amenities we could have asked for. The kitchen is stocked with all the necessities. There is a small coffee station with a selection of coffee pods and teas. The owners provide laundry detergents if you need to wash your clothes and toiletries in the bathroom. The front bedroom offers a firm mattress if you have back issues, and the living room furniture is very plush and comfy. We didn’t get to sit on the porch to enjoy the outdoors due to rain, and it was way too warm to use the fire pit which was located at the base of a steep hill. If you are looking for peace and quiet and proximity to wineries then this is the place!
