My family and I booked this little piece of heaven for Christmas this year. We all had such an amazing time. My grandmother lives about 10 minutes away, so it was very convenient. We enjoyed time at Highlands Hammock State park, but honestly there was so much to enjoy on this property that we barely left the home. There was something for everyone to enjoy at all times. There were Cranes and cows in the fields everyday and my young children just loved it. At night there were Bart Owls which kept us entertained. They were so beautiful. I would highly recommend staying here, I had no complaints. The owner even went to the home the next night after we checked out, to look for my husbands watch as he thought he left it there. She was so sweet to check everywhere. We ended up finding it, and he did not leave it, but she didn't hesitate to help us.
Thank you for your review and we hope you visit again soon.
WE ARE A GROUP OF 10 GOLFERS WHO HAVE BEEN TRAVELING TO SEBRING FOR 20 YEARS FOR A GOLF GET AWAY. THIS YEAR WE TRADED HUM DRUM HOTEL LIFE FOR A FABULOUS RETREAT. CRACKER HAMMOCK CABIN NOT ONLY GAVE US OPPORTUNITY PLAY OUR FAVORITE GOLF COURSES, BUT TO COME BACK TO A WARM SETTING TO BRAG ABOUT SHOTS, COMPLAIN ABOUT TEAMS, AND ENJOY MEALS WE PREPARED. SLEEPING WAS A BIT TIGHT FOR 10 GUYS. COUCH SLEEPING WAS IN VOGUE. HOWEVER, ON OUR NEXT TRIP WE WILL BRING A FEW BLOW UP BEDS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE AMENITIES WERE EVERYTHING PROMISED. OUR ONLY PROBLEM WILL BE LIMITING THE GROUP NEXT YEAR WHEN OTHERS FIND OUT WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAD!
Thank you for your review and we look forward to having you again soon.
Bathrooms were nice and clean. Rest of property was not all that clean, mostly the furniture. Owner knew we were having a business manager retreat and didn't bother to tell us 4 of our 8 people would have to walk through someone's bedroom to get to a bathroom. The moment we got there on Wednesday at 3PM we called the owner and told her the refrigerator was not working and we came with $400 worth of food. She said there was a storm the night before and the power was out. She told us we should wait for two hours for it to cool down. It took 3-4 more calls to convince her it was broken. They brought one cooler and ice that night and another the next day. That is the only way we could keep our food cold. It was very inconvenient and disruptive of our meeting. She never called back to make sure we were managing OK. We just plain had to throw out some food. Due to the storm the internet was out. She was unresponsive on this issue also. We ended up calling the cable company ourselves but to no avail. We had to run hot spots from our phones at our own cost. She refused to refund us anything.
We do not have control over natural occurrences. Unfortunately, there was a severe lighting storm that did affect the fridge and internet. Plus, not to mention all the rain during their stay. The guest was aware the fridge was not working prior to purchasing the $400 of food. We did have someone go out and check out the fridge within the hour and in the meantime we were trying to troubleshoot it with the guest, which they seem to call troubleshooting not believing them. The guests were provided with coolers and our property manager visited everyday, several times, to make sure they were ok. He also provided them with bags of ice daily. The new fridge would not arrive till after their stay. We did communicate with the guest and answer every single call. When contacted by the guest about the internet, we immediately contacted technical support to troubleshoot the internet and got the same answer the guest received on their call which was communicated to guest, that the technicians were not able to go out till after their stay. We even tried our very best to expedite the fridge and internet service but unfortunately the problems could not get solved till after their stay. We did our very best to make this situation as comfortable as possible but no matter what we did or provided it wasn't good enough. We take pride in our home and our guests, we are extremely picky about cleaniness and I guarantee their was nothing dirty in our home. In regards to the bedroom and bathrooms. Yes, the bunkroom connects with another room and you do have to cross a bedroom to get to the bathroom. Our home sleeps 13 people in beds. Most of our guest are friends and family and we have never had an issue with our guests and our accommodations. On the contrary we have excellent reviews from our guests. We, did our very best to make their stay as pleasant as possible, mostly our property manager, although it was all caused by a storm that we had no control over.
This place is pretty big like 15 acres i guess. We loved the stay.. Its private and has everything to cook and play and haffunnn. But the place has lot of spider web and not clean inside and outside. I don't know how long was before the other guests stayed since we went with kids it was a concern not being clean. They dont have any screen outside in the patio, so they were so many insects all around from 6PM. so we couldn't go out after. May be, its because it was summer. We had fun inside though. The bedrooms were clean and good. Similarly the bathrooms too. The game place has lots of web too.. We had to clean before we started playing. Also the owner lives nearby and he comes and asks if you need anything. Pros: -Very big place -Private -Grill place was big enough for 12-14 people -Game place was decent enough to have fun -Can play outdoor games too -Clean bathrooms and bedrooms -lots of beds Cons: -Not clean, lots of web, dry leaves -No screen in patio, lots of insects (summer)
Our family has rented summer homes for the last 10 years in North Georgia, NC and TN. This year we decided to do a Christmas vacation and closer to home. We brought a tree and decorations but were delighted when we arrived to find this home was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It was extremely clean and the best stocked kitchen that we have rented. The pole barn was a huge plus. We spent many nights playing games and watching the big TV. BUT the biggest hit was the screened in bathroom with the claw foot tub!! A hot bath, soft music and candles with the ambience of being in the middle of the woods..... This is the type of home we love...rustic setting, clean and homey. (NOT a 5 star hotel setting. That is not us.) The only con was the mosquitoes but we are from Florida and Georgia and came prepared. We had a fogger and repellent. All and all we rate this as one of our best vacations.
