The picture on the web site of the South Park plateau with the distant mountains is misleading. The property is on the side of a mountain surrounded by lush forest and with an excellent view of nearby peaks with patches of snow remaining in August. We low-landers all had mild headaches for a day from the altitude (10,500ft).The kitchen is well appointed. Overall, the accommodations were a great value.

My Granddaughter and her two young daughters live in Denver; my son and his 3 adult daughters live in Houston, and I, the Granddad lives in East TN. We used the holiday to celebrate! The cabin was great and everything was just as advertised in the listing. The location for us was perfect. The young and old alike enjoyed hiking around the 16 acres; two snow saucers were available for sliding down a 50 yard slope in the backyard. Two trail heads for hiking Pennsylvania and Pica peaks, Hoosier pass and Wheeler Reservoir are just a short drive away. As for the cabin, the second floor is the main level with the king and a queen bedroom next to the main floor bathroom. The main area is completely open with the dining area in the front of the house connected to the kitchen with a large island with sink; great for meal preps and serving. The frig is large with bottom freezer and upper French doors for lots of cold storage. It has a two slice toaster and a Mr. Coffee type drip coffee maker. In the cabinet was a crockpot and a large electric gridle with all of the essential baking pans, mixing bowls, and pots and pans. Outside on the covered deck was a gas grill for grilling our Omaha steaks, chicken, and pork chops. We ate in for all of our meals and we did not lack anything for our meal preparations. The Living room was very spacious with a worn but comfortable recliner and two 3-person couches facing the stone faced wood burning fireplace with ample supplied firewood. A large TV is above the fireplace with wireless connection. The connection was capable to handle numerous cell phones, IPADS, and the TV. We did experience a couple hour external outage (no fault of the homes connection) in the middle of "White Christmas"; gave us time to enjoy playing games! Downstairs is the other queen bedroom, bunk room with two double bed bottoms with twin uppers, a modest game/family room with the double sofa bed and love seat and an air hockey game; a full bath provided accommodations for the downstairs guests. A large electric space heater is provided for addition warmth (temps were in the low teens) while the main level was toasty warm. Overall, the location and the facilities were great for out family of 10 and we all would love to come back. My daughter in law did experience high altitude sickness coming from sea level Houston direct to the cabin altitude of 10,500 feet; everyone else was able to enjoy sledding, hiking, and vistas of the area!
