Clean home and pool
5/5 Our stay was great overall and I would 100% return to this house. The house and pool were both very clean. Would love to find more things around the house like games, books, and more kitchen ware. There were no instructions on the pool or Internet which was odd for a rental. But the WiFi password was on the back of the router/modem. The location of the house is wonderful and the views of the mountains were beautiful. There are neighbors but you are above one and the other is behind a wall so I heard/saw no one during our stay. Overall a very good rental and we would go back.
Clean home, Dirty Pool
3/5 First, the pros.
-VERY clean home.
-Very comfortable beds
-Short drive to the entrance of Joshua Tree NP.
-Great view from the patio.
-The owner responded quickly to my questions via text message.
-The kitchen is well appointed.
Now, the cons.
-The pool was filthy when we arrived with debris covering the surface and bottom, including a dead lizard that had sunk to the bottom. I contacted the owner who said that they would send the pool maintenance guys over ASAP. However, they didn’t show up until our last day, and we wound up not using the pool at all.
-The owner did not keep us informed of the pool situation, even though I had asked them to do so. Also, there weren’t any instructions in the home on how to connect to the internet, sort the trash (3 trash cans), work the pool, or any other instructions that most vacation rentals have readily accessible to renters.
-The front yard is covered in weeds. The gutter over the patio is falling down. A towel rack and a toilet paper holder fell off the wall and was never replaced, just painted over. The garage door opener was broken.
Individually, none of these issues (except for the pool) are a big deal. Combined, they made the house feel sad and uncared for. The filthy pool, however, was a major bummer. We still had a great time, the house just didn’t enhance our experience. It has a lot of potential and I hope the owners improve it for renters to come.
