Great Mountain Home for Family
5/5 Great mountain home for families or friends. Plenty of rooms, even a fun playroom/bedroom for the tykes. Downstairs has pool table and darts and big TV. Upstairs with main floor, kitchen, dining, living and fireplace (lots of firewood available). Just a couple of hours north of LA, very convenient. Short walk to small community town for dining and small grocery. Lots of hiking nearby - we suggest hikes #6 and #1 on the property’s hiking map (on the coffee table). Appliances are new and modern. We got lucky with heavenly weather - June with low 40s at night and a high temp of low 60s during day. Saw one bear from the deck - it climbed a neighbor’s tree and fell out of it (not hurt). On community water system with septic…all good. No central AC but you don’t need it.

Great Weekend Getaway
5/5 We enjoyed our weekend getaway at this property. This was our 2nd attempt renting this house. The first time there was that major snowstorm that blanketed CA and all the roads were closed. Although the rental company told us we couldn’t rebook or get a refund (read the rental agreement!), the owner was more concerned about our safety than the money and allowed us to rebook for another weekend. We had read all the reviews and were concerned we’d be cold so we brought lots of blankets and firewood but didn’t need any of it because the house was fully stocked…with everything! It was the best stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a short term rental. And they even had a complimentary snack bar down in the game room and a chilled bottle of Prosecco waiting for us upon arrival. We easily walked into town for food and drinks and there was ample space for 6 people to hang around the house all day. The house had a large patio but it was covered in snow and too cold to hang out there but I’m sure it’s a huge hit in the warmer months. Even though the temps dipped into the low 30s, we were never cold or sitting in the house with our jackets. The family room fireplace was easy to use and kept us warm throughout our stay and the space heaters kept the bedrooms cozy. We definitely recommend this property and we will be back!

concerns/tips
4/5 Please emphasize there's no "heat" in the house minus space heaters. The downstairs wood burning stove filled the house with smoke.... unusable. Pool cues had no tips to play. No propane in the fire pit. Advise guests to bring wood for fireplace. We had a good stay but luckily came prepared from reviews.
