Great place to stay and escape the heat. Reasonably priced and very good communication with the property manager. Pool table is a lot of fun and the bedroom/bathroom setup is ideal for a family of 4. Close to mountain bike trails which is a major plus. It would be nice if the dryer worked, otherwise we had really good time.

This property is the worst short term rental we have ever stayed at. It is nothing like the pictures shown. I will list the negatives as we did not find any positives:
- Rat feces in piles outside the patio deck
- All toilets continuously run after being flushed
- The entry stairs move and flex when walking up them (wood is fragile exposed and deteriorating)
- Windows do not lock and close properly. Unsafe for children- fall hazard and security issue
- Screen doors do not lock and close properly.
- Light switches are installed incorrectly and are not uniform (up for on, down for off)
- Property interior is heavily worn and damaged including marks on walls, poor patches on drywall that is unpainted.
- Exposed nails sticking out of walls that will catch your clothes or skin.
- The carpets, rugs and couches are heavily stained
- There is a van parked in the driveway that blocks easy access to the stairs and prevents you from parking fully in the curved driveway
- The driveway needs to be cleared (filled with tree debris)
- There is trash spilled all over the driveway as an animal entered the trash bin.
- The dryer has a sign on it saying "Warning this will cause a fire if used"
- The door to the laundry was detached from the wall and left propped against the wall
- We found dirty old socks on the floor-Primary Bedroom
I have pictures of the above issues and more to report.

Hi Nick, we always appreciate honest and constructive feedback, but after talking with the homeowner, we'd like to clarify the following points:
- This home was built in 2015, and it's like new, so there is zero wood deterioration. There is one step that is at the very top of the outdoor entry staircase which slightly wobbles, but that is due to its location next to bulbous concrete. All of the other steps do not wobble, there is no deterioration and, everything is very safe.
- There are no rats near my home. The outdoor debris on the patio is from plants, not rat waste.
- All screen doors lock. You have to use force and click the latch at the same time, and this might seem tricky to some.
- It is not possible that the toilets are flowing. The city of Big Bear electronically monitors all water flow from homes, and so if a rubber flap or anything else causes a toilet to run, the city shuts off the water to the home until the flap or other is replaced. The toilets are new, so they are not malfunctioned.
- It is the mountains, and therefore animals will get into the trash. We wish you would have reached out to us so we could resolve the issue and clean up the trash.
- In modern homes, light switches for a single light are installed at each end of a hallway, for convenience, and so if you turn it off at one end, the switch will be in the opposite position at the other.
- Homeowners often leave a vehicle of theirs at their property. While a vehicle was parked there, there is plenty of parking behind the vehicle, and right in front of the home, there is a large amount of street parking.
- We were surprised your review mentioned nails as we have never had guests report this issue. We will investigate this claim.
- We will investigate the claim about the locking mechanism of windows, and interior, and take appropriate action.
- We take the accuracy of our listings seriously. We have confirmed that the listing states the dryer is not available.
We take our guest experience seriously and strive to provide an enjoyable stay for each guest.
I enjoyed my stay. I felt like I was able to capture the best of both worlds … luxury and nature. The house is very spacious not overly decorated with furniture. Although there was no AC it was very cool inside the temperature was 85° outside. I enjoyed visiting local stores and restaurants people are very friendly, there is a short drive to the lake and other trails.
From reading a previous review of this place, we packed our own cookware from pots to dishes, and utensils. Good thing we did, because it was poorly stocked, everything there was there was dirty, obviously unwashed from previous visitors. The carpets and large area rug in the main room were all dirty, very stained, and looked terrible. Layer of dust on several surfaces. The only comfortable seating was the couch, and dining room benches. All other seating in the cabin were either broken or very wobbly. Only one reading lamp in the entire place, and two of the bedrooms had no working outlets to charge phones, plug in heaters, etc. In general, other than having beds, the bedrooms were bare of furniture. There was a large desk in the master bedrm however, it was pushed to one corner and surface was dusty, the accompanying chair had a broken leg so that when we placed our coats or anything on it, it would topple over. Although the beds were all neatly made, the sheets and pillowcases were not fresh and I had a strong suspicion they were not changed from the last visitors (gross). Please note, this is only my suspicion, but a mother can tell these things. This place could be wonderful but needs to be maintained and cleaned thoroughly after each visitor.
This is a very nice house in a quiet location. Communications with property manager Brian were excellent. There were many, many rules for renters. The house is in need of numerous minor repairs. If you plan on cooking and eating in, the cookware is in really bad shape and there isn't enough dinnerware for more than 3 people.
