First impression upon entering the unit, a plate of half eaten food was on the kitchen counter, not very appealing. Next was a large ball of hair on the carpet in the first bedroom, not very appealing. One significant issue each time late afternoon when we arrived at the unit , there was a very noticeable odor of marijuana , apparently emanating from the unit below to the best of our sense. Seemed odd and a couple of times actually annoying. Smaller items were no curtains on Windows second bedroom so that daylight comes through at about six a.m. full blast, difficult to get a relaxing late morning sleep in. Also no separate receptacle for recycle items in the unit. Also no adequate instructions for using TV to turn on with controls had to call the owner, Limited help but finally did figure out on our own after about an hour how to get the cable on and able to change channels. One very positive note, plenty of toilet paper. However description of the unit fails to note that there are not bathrooms, there are two half bathrooms one small enclosure has toilet and sink, second small enclosure has shower in it the property description should accurately say there are two half bathrooms one with shower separate unit bathroom with the one toilet for the unit. Otherwise the front balcony porch which is what attracted me to book this unit in the first place from the photos, was very relaxing and comfortable to sit out as long as weather allowing. I might recommend this unit again to others with the caveats particularly about the bathroom situation. One other small thing a couple of additional blankets as backup would be helpful, and if the living room sofa, we're a sofa bed would be quite handy to accommodate an extra person small children etc. Otherwise the unit was clean, refrigerator and Ice production worked well and there was plenty of hot water.
This little Gem of a house has a lot of character and showed historical charm of what felt like staying in a ship. Its snuggled up a hillside by a short walk off the main road. The outdoor front patio had a small peek of the ocean which was a nice way to relax and feel the breeze off the water. We made some nice memories here. The kitchen had enough supplies to make breakfast every morning. We spent our nights in town. The bedrooms were small being tight quarters but only there to sleep.

My family and I had a great stay at Trout House! Perfect location, close enough to everything but far enough away for a quiet stay. Beds were comfy, used the very functional kitchen. The place is rustic but everything works well, awesome water pressure and love the history of the house. Great deck for relaxing after a day of exploring. We would definitely stay again!

I can't imagine a better place to enjoy some time on Catalina, especially for the price. It was everything we wanted, a block from the beach, with a sweet breezy deck with great views that I could have stayed on the whole visit. Such a fun little town, so easy to get to, but *worlds away* from LA. Will be back!
