We had a large group of 15, and this place was perfect. The location is beautiful. Lots of wildlife and kind of tucked away along the river. If you’re looking to fish, it’s possible on the property, but there are much better and easier options a short drive away. A couple things to note: it is about a 40 minute drive from Soldotna, and a good chunk is gravel road, but you’re in Alaska and that is common. Also, this is not a mansion. Some reviews that I read on a lot of these types of places expected high end luxury. You are paying for location and some solitude and this definitely provides that. This is a very nice house(s) that is clean and comfortable and is a great option for people looking to vacation and fish in this area. The house is well equipped and is set up really well for cleaning and processing fish as well as lots of freezer space to get them frozen before your trip home. Yes, the areas that are set up for fish processing smell like it. Again, that should be expected. Keep your fish stuff out of the living areas where they should be and those areas will continue to stay nice and clean smelling. If a clean, well equipped house that is set up to enjoy a beautiful view of the Kenai River while also having a great place to process fish if you want, then this could be a perfect place for you. I highly recommend it, especially with a big group, and we’ll definitely keep it on my short list if I’m able to make another trip back to Alaska.

This was our second time renting this compound. We were a family group of 12 adults/teenagers and 3 young children. There is plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen is well stocked. We had great weather for our week so we spent all of our non-fishing time on the deck. We definitely plan to come back in a couple of years.
Thanks!

We had a great time and we all enjoyed the homes. We had 11 men and boys and rented all 3 properties together. There are lots of twin beds and many (10) are in bunkbed configurations so be aware. If we had couples then 16 would be possible--otherwise I think 14 would be the max--if you did not sleep on the sofas.
It was 45 minutes from downtown and the area was quiet.
Lots of spices in the kitchen and there are 2 large freezers in the garage that were amazing for freezing our fish. We had fun with the fire pit cooking S'mores and we used the charcoal grill for our burgers and it was better than the gas grill.
We did bring our own box fan--it gets hot in the Burl lodge above the garage if you don't.
We did not catch a single fish off the deck--then again we did not catch many in rivers elsewhere so that was probably more of an "us" issue. I would recommend you take a charter trip or two--we had the most success fishing with locals taking us out.
Fred Meyer is AMAZING--think Walmart size and variety.
