We appreciated the efforts the hosts' efforts to make the house welcoming from clear printed instructions to gift packages of food and wine.
WiFi was speedy and reliable and the Bluetooth enabled soundbar allowed us to enjoy music over morning coffee and while hanging out in the evenings.
We were initially concerned when we got the actual address of the house and looked at Google street view: the house looked dingy and the neighborhood seemed scruffy for the price being asked but the house turned out to be nice and light-filled and seemed well maintained while the neighborhood was very quiet as well as quite convenient to groceries, the rail-yard and downtown.
Probably the biggest fail was the lack of a dishwasher which led us to wash our dishes before even using them (not knowing how diligent the previous tenants had been) as well as making more work for us during our stay.

This was a lovely place to stay to enjoy celebrating my mom's 75th birthday. Thank you so much!

The house is located in a decent location. Decorations were nice. The property really needs a exterminator. This is a very old home with several open areas for mice and others to get in. The first two days we had a mouse that ran around the house. On day 2 they set traps. Then we had to remove a dead mouse from the kitchen counter. We have stayed in several VRBOs and ive never had to deal with a rodent. Really disappointed in the stay here.

Hi Chelain, we take it seriously when guests let us know that we missed the mark, and after sending your feedback to the homeowner, they’d like to share the following: We received a notification about the mouse at 10 p.m. We dispatched a team at 5 p.m. the following day, but unfortunately, you weren't available. You called back upon your return, and our team promptly addressed the issue. So far, it appears to be an isolated incident involving a small field mouse, which can enter during seasonal transitions. This is not uncommon in this area. We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
There were numerous issues regarding this as a property. It’s a budget house charging a luxury price. • The location is not situated in a residential area & can be described as an industrial area at best. • The house itself is extremely old & very outdated. The doors cannot close properly and require a latch to secure shut. The house had painted over light switches & gave the impression of a fast and cheap coat of paint to give the illusion of updated. • There are no outlets readily available around the house, we had to charge everything in the kitchen.• In the bathroom there is a window in the shower itself that does not have a cover for privacy, as someone with a traumatic past it is very triggering to not have the ability to close a drape/window covering especially when there is a home literally within feet of the bathroom. It’s not a tall bathroom either, you can see right through especially at night.• The “Backyard Oasis” was anything but - The outdoor furniture was covered with a tarp & sheet. The outdoor umbrella is being held down with a bag of rocks. The outdoor fire pit is literally like an old grill that the lid does not even come off. There was an empty discarded soil bag just hanging out near the fence. The fence itself is just a coiled up roll of chicken wire. The flower beds are just empty squares of dirt. The fruit tree - through I understand fruit does fall it does not look like the area had been maintained recently & old fruit all around.

Hi Amanda, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- Our team was at the property a few days prior and scrubbed the deck and raked up all the apricots into piles to be hauled away. The month of July happens to be prime Apricot season, so we apologize that there was more fruit on the ground than normal.
- We covered the outdoor furniture to keep the falling fruit off the cushions. Sandbags are holding down the outdoor umbrella since the winds can be fierce at times in Santa Fe. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
- The safety of our guests will always be our highest priority and we apologize if you feel uncomfortable. Based on your feedback, we will cover the bathroom window as we prioritize our guest's comfort and safety.
- We encourage guests to reach out to their guest contact while they are in residence with any issues so that they can address any concerns quickly for a most comfortable stay.
- The house was built in 1947 and there have been many updates over the years. There are numerous outlets available in every room. We use professional photographers so we can be sure that our images accurately reflect the property and guests can decide before booking if the decor and layout meet their expectations.
- We do include a map on our listing so that guests can see the approximate location of the home before booking, but we apologize that this caught you off guard. We're very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at this home.
- Our vacation home consistently receives 4-5 star reviews. While we do regret our home was not up to your expectations, we are happy to report that no issues were reported by the guests who stayed the following weekend. Thank you for letting us know about your experience!
My family and I enjoyed our stay in Santa Fe! The neighborhood was quiet and is a short drive to the plaza and other tourist attractions. Check in and communication was easy. The owner left a good list of food and shopping recommendations. We enjoyed all the art, the comfortable beds, the outdoor space, and the well-stocked kitchen. Would definitely stay again!
