We showed up on the first day, the house was behind the main house in a converted garage, the gate is not easy to find for entering the 'apartment'. The door knob is not attached to the door very well, lighting at night makes it very hard to see. We entered and when doing a first check, we found many bugs in the bathtub and shower, on the windowsills, and around the house. As I did more checking, we found old rotten moldy food in the microwave. We also found the previous guests drinks and things in the refridgerator. I notified the host that we were not comfortable staying and that we had not spent a night in the house.
We’re sorry that your experience fell short of expectations. After connecting with the homeowner and reviewing your comments, they wanted to clarify the following:
– We spoke directly on the day of your arrival and were able to guide you through the gate and into the apartment quickly during our first call. We also checked the door and confirmed that it’s secure.
– You didn’t mention any concerns about pests during our conversations, but the property does have regular pest control in place to protect from these issues.
– We were notified about the food left behind and sent a cleaner within an hour to take care of it. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
– You let us know that you wouldn’t be staying, and later shared that a family emergency had come up. While we adjusted our booking policy to help accommodate your situation, we weren’t able to offer a refund.
