  • Absolutely filthy! And the smell! We both went home sick after just two nights there. Just gross!

    1/5

This has to be the dirtiest place we ever rented! At the front door the smell of mold and mildew hits you. Mildew covers the opening of the dehumidifier that was so loud it woke us at night. An air freshener used to try and mask the musty/dusty smell was so strong we had to put it outside. Windowsills of the "foyer" loaded with dead bugs and dirt.

LivRm is mustier & dustier. Couch gives out a cloud of dust and dirt. Lampshade covered in dust. Counters/tabletops were clean, but the filth dripping off the undersides of the furnishings was disgusting. Dried boogers on the wall, black funk growing in kitchen sink corners and drain, dirty glassed, pans, & dishes in cupboards, stains on carpets. Two soggy DW pods in a dish... Can't cook in the evening, not one light switch in the kitchen works. Reset the breaker 2X & then thought better of it in case there was some faulty wiring, don't want to risk a fire esp. since there is no cell reception. You're left with only WIFI calling from the internet connection that drops often making it quite difficult to make or retain a call. Living room TV ROKU broken.

Mildew growing in cracks of the tub surround & on the walls, a pile of dark black hair and dead bugs in the corner by the tub. Corners & baseboards behind the bedroom doors covered in filth, bedspreads smell like they hadn't been washed in years. Beds were so poorly made, looked like a toddler did it! Bed 1 = zero support, 2nd is rock hard. Sheets weren't tucked in, & the dust ruffle was half on/off the bed.

Forget enjoying the deck! If the hornets from the football sized nest by the deck don't run you off, there's nowhere clean to sit. All outdoor furniture is covered in mold/mildew, food stains, bird poo, or a heavy layer of crud. No way to open windows for fresh air, they're either stuck shut and/or have no screens. The screened patio is no better. Couch was covered in pet hair, cover half off, many large black spiders and webs, cobwebs, leaves, & dirt on everything. Even the top of the hot tub was covered in dirt. The porch swing was just dripping with cobwebs caked in dirt. The outdoor grill didn't work and are we glad. We were going to grill one evening after dusk but grill was broken so we cooked indoors. Next day saw it is caked with burned on food, rust, & splotches of what looks like fungus or mold, & the cover coated in old crud, covering the user in filth. Local contact told us that this is what you get with a wooded area.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Laura, we take guest feedback seriously and have shared your comments with the homeowner, who would like to provide the following response:

-Our cleaner provided pictures of the property prior to the guest's arrival, confirming that everything was in order. As the owner, we personally visited the cottage to ensure it was ready for the stay, and we can confidently say the property was clean and well-maintained.

-Living in a rural mountain area does mean that cobwebs can occasionally appear, especially during certain seasons. We make a point to regularly blow off leaves, clear the hot tub, and remove cobwebs to keep the space as tidy as possible.

-Regarding the windows, they have been carefully inspected, and it has been confirmed that they are all functioning as expected. We take guest feedback seriously and remain committed to ensuring that every aspect of the property meets high standards of comfort and usability.

-In terms of the kitchen breaker issue, we have since identified that the breaker had tripped. We are currently working to schedule an electrician to address this. During the stay, we offered to send someone to resolve the issue immediately, but the guest declined, expressing a preference for privacy, which we respected.

-We also refunded the remaining nights of the stay as a gesture of goodwill. We hope that this effort helped mitigate some of the inconvenience experienced. While unforeseen circumstances arose with the person overseeing the property, we did our best to address concerns promptly and thoughtfully.

Thank you for your feedback, which helps us improve the guest experience. We hope this clarifies things, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to enhance stays in this unique mountain location.

  • Cozy cabin with amazing outdoor space

    5/5

We really enjoyed this cabin from the moment we arrived. Super cute, cozy and clean. The multiple decks were great for enjoying the sounds of the creek even when it was raining. The hot tub was clean and heated up quickly for use. The cabin was clean and inviting and the smart tv was an added bonus. We will definitely book another stay here again!
