  • Comfortable but needs work

    3/5

Let’s start with the good things. It is a very central location and meets the basic needs of a rental. The check in and check out was great. The house was clean.Areas for improvement: when we got there not all the lights were functioning and as we tried to turn others on a breaker tripped, and the outlet sparked in my wife’s hand. I had to go outside in the dark and hunt around for the breaker box and fix the two tripped breakers. Fortunately, that did not happen again for the rest of our stay. That is an example of an overall electrical system that is in need of a serious update. There are numerous overhead lights in the house that are nothing more than a swag plugged into an outlet on the wall. In the kitchen, there is a light fixture with a wire hanging loose and not connected to a bulb. We did not test it, but it’s hard to imagine how this is not alive wire with the configuration of the lighting. The pictures of the house were taken some time ago and when the house was in better condition. The picnic table and cabinets in the kitchen show substantially more wear than in the photos. Finally, the house must be very well insulated. It was not very cold outside yet the heater ran so often just to keep the house 68. I’m sure that if you had actual cold weather, it would probably run all the time. This is a problem because the unit is actually quite loud, especially in the area of the downstairs bedroom. Anyway, it’s not a terrible place, but not a very good value

    Manager's Response:

Hi there, we appreciate your detailed feedback, and we're glad you found the home’s location convenient, the check-in process smooth, and the space clean upon arrival. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your review, and they wanted to share the following:
    – We'll look into the lighting concerns to ensure everything is working. All light fixtures were approved by a licensed electrician and are designed to complement the cabin’s unique aesthetic.
    – We’re reviewing the photos to determine if a new photoshoot is needed. The deck is cleared for winter, but the picnic table and metal chairs remain available. Chair pads are in the mudroom, and washable tablecloths are in the kitchen for guest use. The kitchen cabinets were redone less than three years ago, though they’ve experienced some wear from guest use—we’ve noted this for future updates. The home offers multiple heating options, including a fireplace, central heat, space heaters, and electric blankets. In our experience, none of these produce more than a soft hum.
    – Evolve sets competitive rates based on a thorough market analysis to ensure fair value.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your input helps us continue improving for future guests.

  • Very rustic

    3/5

Place is adequate for a ski rental. Lovely location. Nice deck. Lots of space. Not the most welcoming place to hang out though. Very dark. Not enough lamps and many dont work. Fireplace doesnt work well. Kitchen utensils are cheap n barely function. We ran to the store for a new can opener so at least that's new. Drawers they are kept in are dingy. Cupboards are full of expired stuff. Was an ok stay. We were hoping for a bit more comfort.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Ed, We are glad you enjoyed the location, and are sorry we did not meet your expectations.

We have not had any feedback about our home being dark and not welcoming we usually receive the exact opposite. We have had lots of guests who have enjoyed our home and all of the things we have to offer.

We were unaware that the can opener was broken and would gladly reimburse you for the new one you purchased. We also have 2 drawers of kitchen tools and gadgets as well as a bucket on the counter by the stove.

We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

Our party of seven had a comfortable stay at the cabin. The area was quiet, and close to town. All amenities were provided, so it made for a stress-free stay.

  • Such a great stay!

    5/5

The house was amazing! We had a wonderful time playing games and hanging out. All the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable! It was a close drive into town and about a 30 min drive to Bear Valley. We will definitely be coming back to the area again!
